Hamburger Steak with Onions and Mushrooms
I started this recipe by making Cream of Mushroom Soup from scratch. You can used the canned version from the store but homemade is so much better and the plus is there are no ingredients inside you can’t pronounce. 😊
So let’s start with that.
Ingredients
1 cup white button mushrooms chopped into small pieces.
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup All Purpose Flour
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1 package Lipton Mushroom Onion Soup Mix
Pepper to taste… the onion soup mix has enough salt so no need to add more.
Preparation
First chop the mushrooms. In a bowl add the beef broth and spices. Bring to a boil on stovetop and simmer about 5 minutes.
While that is on the stove combine the milk and flour together with a whisk. I like to add the flour one tablespoon at a time. It’s easier to keep the lumps out that way.
Slowly add the milk and flour to the beef broth whisking until it’s nice and smooth and thickened to your liking. Next mix in the mushrooms.
Set aside to use in the Hamburger Steak recipe.
This is also great in any recipe calling for Cream of Mushroom Soup.
This recipe should yield you what is equivalent to 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup.
